You know those things you buy every week with your groceries that make you wonder: "How hard it would be to make this myself?" Today I came home from a friends' place in the country with two such household products, AND the means for them to reproduce themselves! Behold: the Liberte Organic Kefir (fermented effervescent milk product) I
used to buy, and next to it a small colony of my very own
kefir grains, working their magic on some local milk!

Not only were my wise country friends generous with their fermenting grain colony, they also gave me a huge root ball of their already prolific rhubarb for my very own backyard garden. Total. Score.
